Artist statement
Loving sea and landscapes, there is no better place to be than here in the north east of Scotland. Every walk with my dog or trip to the coast brings new ideas. Using acrylics and pastels to explore colour I create works varying from tiny abstracts to large scale canvasses. I look forward to sharing my working process with you throughout NEOS.
Extended Bio
I am a local artist based in Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire. Graduating from Glasgow School of Art in the early nineties with a BA.hons degree in Woven textiles, I went on to work in the field of interior design and education for many years before returning to my passion: painting.
Having always been drawn to land and seascapes, there is no better place to be than here in the north east of Scotland. We are spoiled with the colours that can change hourly in the fields, and with skies that bring light and texture to this part of the world. I am constantly sourcing inspiration, every walk with my dog or trip to the coast brings with it new images and colours.
Working from my studio at home, I use a combination of acrylics, pastels, charcoal and inks. These allow me to freely explore my enthusiasm for colour and line.
I am always happy to discuss work and take commissions year round. You will find examples of previous works and paintings currently displayed in other galleries through my website. As well as galleries I also collaborate with restaurants and hotels. Should you be interested in something original and unique to enhance the interiors in your home or business please feel free to contact me to discuss further.
