Artist statement

I am a contemporary furniture designer and maker specialising in well-designed, beautiful, tactile pieces. Working mainly in wood, I aim to use locally-sourced materials where possible. For each piece, my aim is to bring out the character of the wood, whilst keeping the design contemporary and fit for function.

Extended Bio

Alasdair graduated from the Edinburgh College of Art in 2006, following a Degree in Product Design Engineering from Strathclyde University. He went on to complete an apprenticeship with Bodan Design & Manufacture in Edinburgh. Since then, Alasdair has been involved in numerous complex design and build projects which combine accomplished making with technical design skills. Alasdair is an experienced designer and maker, crafting functional, beautiful, tactile pieces.
