North East Open Studios has been presented with a Queens Award for Voluntary Service! We are just over the moon and honoured as an organisation. So, as the image says it’s a huge thumbs up from everyone currently on the Committee to everyone who has made NEOS happen.
This is NEOS’s 17 th year and the award is a great achievement for all the committee members, office bearers and everyone who volunteers and who help to create and sustain this event since its first year in 2004. We are a members run event and the committee is elected at our AGM. They then collectively create the cooperative that allows artists and craftsmen all over the North East of Scotland to open their studio doors and begin conversations with members of the general public. Whether we get to do this in person this year is yet to be seen but NEOS is scheduled to be from the 12 – 20th September 2020 still quite a bit away, but without doubt there will be something happening!
We would also like to say a massive thank you to the members of the general public who visit us and start those conversations with us – NEOS would not be what it is without you.
At this very strange time that we are living through – being creative has helped sustain and enrich people’s lives and we know how important it is to mental health and well-being. So, here to many more years of NEOS ‘opening doors to creativity’ and the party when we get to have it!
