Artist statement

My work is inspired by remote places and the idea of escape, whether real or imaginary. This may involve journeying into the wilderness, contemplating a flower, or delving into the realm of abstraction. With much of my work focusing on mountains, I gravitate toward bold lines, high contrast, and a stylized form of expression, striving to convey a sense of movement and the sculptural qualities of these landscapes.

Extended Bio

Outpost Prints is a creative studio founded by a Scotland-based artist Volha Druhakova, who works primarily in printmaking. While working as an architect after earning her Master of Architecture degree, Volha completed a printmaking course at Gray’s School of Art and has since continued to develop her artistic skills through self-teaching and participation in various workshops. Working primarily in printmaking, she explores architectural and landscape abstractions as a fusion of imaginary and real places, inspired by her travels to remote parts of Scotland and beyond. Volha has exhibited her work in numerous shows and received several commissions, including Now and Then: Dalkeith Palace, organized by Visual Arts Scotland; several exhibitions at The Old Lockup Gallery; and the 2nd Wild & Tamed exhibition at Blue Koi Gallery, where she received an honourable mention. She has also participated in several local group shows. Volha is an active member of the Visual Artists Association, Visual Arts Scotland, the Upper Deeside Art Society, and the Aberdeen Artists Society.
