Artist statement

I am a self taught needle felter. I love the form and movement of animals, especially Hares which feature often in my work. I create animal sculptures and artwork from sheep wool. I aim to use British wool and locally sourced wool to create my work. I will be sharing a studio with the very talented Landscape artist Amy Holden of Adventures with Landscapes.

Extended Bio

I am self taught needle felter, slightly obsessed with wool. I create animal sculptures and artwork from sheep wool, using a combination of Needle Felting and Wet Felting. My aim is to use British wool and locally sourced wool to create my work, mainly Shetland and Jacobs. Living and working in the Cairngorm National Park you can not help but get inspired by the stunning landscape all around, but my main inspiration comes from the form and movement of animals but especially Hares, which feature often in my work. I am super lucky to see Brown Hares on a daily basis from my window, also the occasional Mountain Hare and I never get bore of seeing them grazing in my garden or dashing across the hillside. I love creating and the simple things in life. Probably why I love the simplicity of needle felting and the amazing things that can be make from stabbing a bit of wool with a small felting needle!
