Artist statement

MerakiArt is an artists' collective of 3 painters, a jeweller and a sculptor who are showcasing together their range of skills. Lorna Crawford and Jess Petrie paint in a variety of different styles and mediums, Tracey Swift makes beautiful sculptures from driftwood collected locally, and Lilian Lindsay creates very affordable pieces of jewellery.

Extended Bio

Lorna Crawford , a mainly self taught artist, is influenced by the big skies, mountains, beaches and rolling seas of the Scottish landscape . She works in a variety of mediums and collage , and likes nothing better than to attend tutored summer schools and workshops to further develop her art. Jess Petrie is an artist inspired by the colours and textures of the Scottish landscape. She enjoys experimenting with different resources and techniques. Tracey Swift, after many years as an artist, is now in love with sculpting driftwood. She collects wood and sea glass while strolling along local beaches gathering inspiration. She never quite knows how a piece will manifest until she begins working on it. This adds to the intrigue and excitement of her work. Tracey also makes bespoke and personal commissions for clients. Lilian Lindsay began jewellery making with simply strung semi-precious stones and pearls . Since discovering wire work she has tried to incorporate it into the majority of her work, whilst making sure the gemstones show off their unique beauty. Lilian likes to offer something different and unique in her designs.
