Artist statement
I am a shamanic practitioner and multimedia artist. I create channelled pieces to help people to connect to themselves and deeper truths within nature. Allow yourself a moment to look beyond the tree and the rock to see the faces looking back. Secret slow stories of rebirth and memory & old forgotten times mingling with the immediate joy of light and water.
Extended Bio
Mark grew up as a child of the hedgerows and rivers of Shropshire and the Welsh borders and has been living and working in Scotland since 2012. This is his first time taking part in NEOS and he is very excited. Mark works with spirits of place, elemental forces and the divine feminine to create multimedia pieces which can be used to aid others in their personal journeys. He is a shamanic practitioner and a Reiki Master-Teacher and healer and brings this through into his art. He has a fascination for the secret, hidden places within nature and the spirits who share them with us.
Mark works frequently in the Moray area, both as an artist and a healing practitioner, as well as in the Highlands where he lives. He is really grateful to returning Neos artist Donnah Murray-Dilger of Roots & Cadence who has kindly sponsored his participation and invited him to share a space with her at Kinloss Church Hall. Donnah and Mark have found themselves to be kindred spirits through their work with the divine feminine and the ancestors and they are really looking forward to sharing a space and their collected works with others during NEOS 2024.
Mark's aim is to convey the hidden truth and beauty within the landscape. Each of his unique pieces can serve as meditation tools. Mark welcomes commissions and the chance to create channelled pieces which could offer something specific and helpful to your individual journey.
"Its difficult to explain but what I am trying to do is paint and draw shamanically. To integrally involve my energy work in my creative process and ultimately my pieces"
A love of trees and their secret slow stories of rebirth and memories, of old forgotten times, mingling with the immediate joy of light and water. This is what inspires his art. Thank you for taking the time to look again.
