Artist statement

I create homewares using modern materials and designs. I try to encompass different textures into my work, including leather and cord. I am a furniture finisher within Tom Ironside Furniture Group by day, so am always looking for a way to incorporate wood. My inspiration is Mid Century, I love the clean lines and boldness of that period.

Extended Bio

My name is Jenny. When COVID started and lockdown happened I found I needed to feel useful, so started sewing masks to keep people as safe as I could and also raise money for different charities that were close to my heart in the North East. I'd always enjoyed sewing and had had a bash at crochet, but nothing serious. After it all seemed to calm down, I still felt the urge to make and people were asking what things I had..... Jenny Brand Handmade was born! I like to use my hands and am happiest when making something colourful. I'll make whatever takes my fancy, from necklaces to bowls to hanging shelves to handbags. If I'd like it my home or feel it is useful to me in some way, I will try to create something that fits the bill.
