Artist statement
I paint both still life and explored subjects.
Everything I paint passes through my head and will carry some trace of that.
My compositions can take months to develop, until I feel ready to start painting, and they will evolve while I try to complete them.
I believe that what I end up with is valuable and each painting teaches me more.
Extended Bio
Working as the Artist at Garage 10, I paint both still life and explored subjects. My compositions can take weeks to materialise to a point at which I’m ready to start painting, and they generally continue to evolve over the weeks that it takes me to complete them.
Re-sketching subjects many times, and over some time, allows concepts to take on their own identity within a composition and either evolve together to develop or lose relevance and disappear. - Through this process, I discover what I will paint. I invest in my painting and believe that what I end up with is valuable.
