Artist statement
Hand built ceramic art with a main focus on animals and birds. Most pieces are sculptural, with some thrown domestic ware. I employ a variety of techniques and finishes, tailored to suit the piece. Come and see what we've been up to this year. Exhibiting with Luck Penny Woodwork.
Extended Bio
Ceramics became my main creative outlet after I went to an evening class at Gray's School of Art, back in 2013. I was hooked! It is such a wide ranging medium with so much to learn about. I work mainly with sculpting and raku clay, as a number of pieces are fired outdoors. Planning ahead is important, choosing a method of build, decoration and firing to achieve the desired result. I now have my own back garden studio, with indoor and raku kilns, a potter's wheel and like many potters I've developed a magpie brain for all things to make tools and textures!
