Artist statement

A love of outdoor adventure in the mountains and remote areas of Scotland provides the inspiration for my work. I paint on location where I can, gathering inspiration through mixed media studies which I then use to create larger oil paintings. Come along and see my newest landscape paintings and prints, look through my sketchbooks and chat about all things art. I am delighted to be sharing the space with artist Quintin Davies.

Extended Bio

Shona Cammack is a landscape painter who is drawn to wild places and remote landscapes. A deep connection to the Scottish landscape, and a love of outdoor adventure in the mountains and remote areas, provide the inspiration for her paintings. She is inspired by the ancient pine forests, lochs and high mountains of her local Cairngorms as well as the more rugged landscapes of the west coast. Shona works outdoors on location where possible, gathering inspiration through small mixed media studies on paper. Some of these will become final paintings and others are used as inspiration for her larger oil paintings in the studio. Shona aims to translate her sense of adventure and connection to the Scottish landscape by creating vibrant and harmonious paintings which capture the beauty of our wild places. Her oil paintings are deeply layered and intuitive works, full of expressive marks and varied textures. Shona is sharing the gallery space at The Barn this year with artist Quintin Davies. Come along and see her newest paintings, look through her sketchbooks and chat about all things art.
