Artist statement
I have a background in architecture, public art, sculpture and education. I find myself constantly rearranging things or seeing random arrangements around me: on the table or in the landscape. My studio play never stops and is rarely finished!
Extended Bio
Simon Beeson studied architecture and since 1989 has practiced as architect, public artist and teacher. Between 1990 and 1995 he studied and taught at the University of Minnesota, while working as assistant to artist Siah Armajani. He has completed public art works and workshops in Scotland, and taught in several architecture schools. In May 2023 joined The Glasgow School of Art Highland Campus, Forres, as subject lead for MDes Design Innovation and Environmental Design. In 2002-3 he was a research fellow at the Henry Moore Institute, completed a Reach Scotland Residency 2018, Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop and 2019 was a Research Fellow at Stiftung Hans Arp and Sophie Taeuber-Arp (Berlin). He is a PhD Architecture by Design candidate at Edinburgh College of Art and continues to play in the studio when time allows.
