Artist statement
You will find vivid paintings of flowers, birds, horses, still lives and landscapes in my garden studio - even some abstracts. Inspired by my surroundings and memories, I use layers of transparent and opaque colour in acrylic and water based media. Linework, patterning, collage and simple printing techniques add rich textures and depth to my work.
Extended Bio
Like many others, I took painting classes after I retired, and was lucky to find an inspiring teacher in Susie Hunt. During the pandemic I started working in acrylics, developing my skills and learning new techniques through on-line classes. I work on canvas, wooden panels and paper, from as little as 10cm square to as large as 100cm. and will have a wide selection of original paintings on show. In the past few years I have been commissioned to make several equine portraits. I joined Open Studios for the first time in 2023 and was delighted with the positive response from my visitors, so am really looking forward to NEOS 2024.
