I started dressing fishing flies while at school and for many years have researched the history and characters behind old salmon and trout flies. I now recreate the old flies using where possible the materials as specified by the originator. All classic salmon flies are dressed on handmade hooks and mounted in solid wooden frames.

I design and make high-quality statement pieces of jewellery from my workshop in Crimond, near Fraserburgh. My main sources of inspiration are architecture and the built environment, as well as geometric patterns and textures. I am inspired by nature, process and material. My practice is founded on the belief that working with our hands and immersing ourselves in nature is essential to mental and physical wellbeing. My work is tactile, and process led. I work primarily in glass and silver, but experiment across many mediums.

I work to preserve traditional textile skills, crochet, knitting and felting and combine them with painting, drawing and sculpture. Colour is immensely important to me as a method of communication, drawing the viewer in. Perhaps while they are there they will find a space for themselves. Commissions undertaken. Workshops soon to be launched.

I use watercolours, often on yupo paper. I enjoy the vibrant colours, fluidity and luminosity that this paper helps me create. I’m inspired by our beautiful local scenery and wildlife. I will be busy painting and happy to demonstrate and chat about my work. Once again I will be sharing my location with Bramar glass.
