Hi, I’m Dawn! My wood crafting journey started only a few years ago when I was gifted a lathe, my passion has grown from there. I started with pens but now, I also create lamps, serving boards, coasters, and other beautiful homewares. There’s something special about turning raw timber into something both functional and beautiful.

I work within an expanded painting practice, influenced by land and seascapes, maps and urban living. I play with ambiguity, misdirection, juxtaposition of marks, emblems, textures, colours and perspectives. Through a series of layers the compositions emerge both abstract and representational.

I have the privilege to bide in the beautiful Howe of Cromar. My painting is inspired by the landscape and people around me. I work in my old steading and will be sharing the space with other artists.

I trained in farming then sculpture. I combine my experience to design and then make sculptural useful objects like lamps, and in making animated sculptures on the themes of philosophy and ethics for a decent society.
