I make a wide range of colourful ceramics in my studio in my garden. I take my inspiration from marine life, my love of gardening and walks in nature. I have continued to explore with different clays, textures and glazes. My work varies from large sculptural pieces, bowls, vases, plates, bothies, toadstools and jewellery

Maria Muruaga’s work is deeply rooted in the belief that art can create spaces for connection, shared experience, and collective understanding. Having lived and worked in various countries and now based in Aberdeen, her art reflects a journey through displacement, identity, and healing processes. Based in Deeside, Aberdeenshire, I paint landscapes in oil, acrylic and mixed media. I hope to capture a little of what makes the everyday places around Scotland special. I paint realistic impressions as well as more abstracted landscapes from memory.
