My art inspiration comes from my love of wildlife and nature.
A love for painting began for me 27 years ago, with a newly found interest in Decorative Painting and from then on, I taught myself the required brush skills. In recent years I turned to a more realistic and detailed style for my wildlife and animal art whilst still retaining that decorative twist! I use the same painting techniques throughout my artwork whether it be decorative or a true to life study.
My range includes fine art originals and limited edition prints, hand painted whisky barrel staves and cask lids (sourced from local Scottish distilleries), cards and unique gifts. I also welcome pet portraits and commissions.
I am also a tassel maker practicing the now officially endangered art of Passementerie and hold the occasional tassel making class as well as classes in painting.
When I am not creating art I run the Huntly Swift Group – NES Swifts which I founded in 2017. Working almost full time in a voluntary capacity raising awareness, initiating and overseeing mitigation projects for the protection of Common Swift, House and Sand Martin and Barn Swallow across the North East of Scotland. These incredible birds feature frequently in my artwork.
